FIANTSO – Fianarana Tsara Orina (Roots for Learning)

(2025 à 2027)

The FIANTSO project (Fianarana Tsara Orina) project is a pilot initiative led by Education Network, with support from the Hempel Foundation and in partnership with FHI 360, aimed at sustainably improving the quality of learning through strengthening teaching skills and revitalising local teaching support. Designed as an experimental programme, FIANTSO supports the education system by combining technical support, pedagogical innovation and alignment with national education policies. The project focuses on concrete, contextualised and transferable solutions for local education stakeholders.

Role and added value of Education Network within the project

Within the framework of FIANTSO, Education Network plays a central role in the technical and educational management of the programme. Its commitments include:

  • the strengthening and revitalisation of local educational support, in close collaboration with local educational institutions;
  • the deployment of specialised technical teams, in particular education promoters, to provide regular, targeted support tailored to the needs identified in the field;
  • the guarantee of educational quality of interventions and their alignment with national educational guidelines and policies;
  • strengthening local capacities and consolidating existing mechanisms to ensure the sustainability of achievements.

Strategic alignment, institutional interest and prospects for the FIANTSO project

The FIANTSO project, currently in the experimental phase, is fully in line with the mission and vision of Education Network, which aims to contribute to the sustainable improvement of learning quality by strengthening local education systems, promoting pedagogical innovation and producing solutions that can be transferred on a larger scale.

In this context, the main focus of Education Network is to test an integrated model of local educational management, based on ongoing support for educational stakeholders, structured technical assistance and alignment with national education policies. FIANTSO thus constitutes an operational innovation laboratory, enabling the testing, adjustment and documentation of approaches that could be institutionalised or replicated.

Prospects for expansion and scaling up

At the end of the experimental phase, FIANTSO aims to serve as a foundation for gradual expansion, both geographically and programmatically. The lessons learned will enable:

  • capitalise on practices, tools and operational models that can be replicated;
  • consider scaling up the model in other areas or regions;
  • to support national or multi-partner programmes;
  • to integrate the tested approaches into existing institutional mechanisms on a long-term basis.
